Supporting the wider community…

Health Care
Our most ambitious project yet— a clinic at the Gitabage school— has steadily expanded into a community health center. Since the general clinic opened in 2022 a maternity wing, laboratory, nutrition building, 12 inpatient rooms, bathrooms, nurses’ quarters, water tanks, and offices have been added. Final walkways and retaining walls are now under construction, and final inspection by Rwandan Health Ministry officials is pending in early 2026.

Personal Entrepreneurship
Individuals with the determination and skill to start their own small businesses can apply for grants from REE. We have given seed money for start-ups including beet farming, shoemaking, hairdressing, music lessons, food delivery, mobile barbering, and more. We also enable motivated individuals to pursue vocational training, to help them find employment which will support their family’s health and their children’s education.

Animal husbandry
Over the years students and school staff have received donated rabbits, pigs, goats, and even cows to eat and breed at home—one way to generate money for school fees and other family needs.
